SUMMARY:Small but busy: the metallon of Tiberiane in the mid-second century
DESCRIPTION:The small metallon of Tiberiane (Barud)\, surveyed in 1992\, is
  located about ten kilometers as the crow flies southeast of Mons Claudian
 us. The praesidium is essentially a mini Claudianus\, but it did not preve
 nt it from being well inhabited and very busy in the mid-second century. T
 he archives of the tabularius Athenodoros (c. 150-154)\, an official on du
 ty at Mons Claudianus also in charge of the administration of the satellit
 e\, provide us with much information regarding the management of Tiberiane
 . During this lecture\, I will present some of the conclusions I reached w
 hile working on these ostraca\, including the officials in charge\, a desc
 ription of the workforce\, the water supply and the daily water consumptio
