SUMMARY:Homer\, the founder of European literature
DESCRIPTION: Homer the founder of the European Literature  Homer’s poems
  are not only among the most ancient texts of western literature\, but als
 o among the most influential ones for as long as they have been used\, thr
 oughout centuries down to the present\, as material for creation\, reflect
 ion\, and education. Starting with a short glimpse on how vivid the Homeri
 c influence continues to be today\, this presentation will then look back 
 in time to focus on the role of Homer in ancient education and in scholast
 ic identity\, as seen from the testimony of papyri. Lastly\, new perspecti
 ves offered by recent digital approaches to papyrology will be explored.
