Presence Library Papyrology (R305)
Information on use
The Papyrus Edition Library is a reference library of the Department of Ancient History. It is not possible to borrow papyrus editions. Staff of the Department of Classical Studies may only take them to their own office at the department for ancient civilisations and only for a short period of time, provided that a placeholder is filled in and placed at the location of the edition to be taken. Placeholders are located on the table next to the column in room 305.
On the 3rd floor of the Department, the reference library is located in room 305, where our staff also have their workplace and conduct research. We therefore ask you to behave considerately in the papyrology presence library as well as in the DAW library.
The reference library is accessible at all times for staff members with a key. For external guests or students, please contact the assistant librarians in room 305 or the office of the assistant librarians opposite in room 302, who will be happy to help you.
The editions are generally classified according to the Checklist of Editions of Greek, Latin, Demotic, and Coptic Papyri, Ostraca, and Tablets. You can find the desired editions either by entering the title in the library catalogue "Swisscovery Basel" or directly on this page via our holdings lists. This way you can find out the respective shelfmark of the edition you are looking for, which will tell you its location in room 305.
If you have any questions, please contact the assistant assistants in room 305, as well as the assistants' office in room 302 or via the contact form below. We would be very grateful for feedback, suggestions for improvement and tips regarding missing books, new publications, online editions that are not on our lists, as well as any other additional information.
