The Basel Foundation for Classical Archaeology was established in 1999. The organization of the Foundation can be seen in its Statutes, which can be consulted at the Secretariat of Classical Archaeology, Department of Ancient Civilizations, Petersgraben 51, 4051 Basel.

1. Purpose

The foundation gives contributions

• to students, doctoral students and post-doctoral students of Classical Archaeology for study visits abroad, costs of their publications and the like;
• to the costs of participation in congresses;
• to excavation campaigns and their evaluation;
• excursions of students of classical archaeology.

Contributions are approved by the Board of Trustees.

2. Application

Deadlines for applications are March 31 and October 31. Applications should be submitted in writing both by email to baslerstiftung@clutterunibas.ch and by mail to the address below, enclosing

• a detailed description of the project
• a budget indicating the own funds and the requested contribution;
• information about any applications for support from other institutions and their statements, if already available;
• a curriculum vitae.

The Foundation Board announces its decision in April and November. Supported persons are obliged to submit a report to the Foundation at the end of the project.
