SedaDNA is a rapidly growing field that has the potential to fill crucial gaps in the archaeological record. This novel research field, however, also comes with particular challenges, one of them being the need to provide proper contextualization of this nano-scale material before we can apply it to specific archaeological questions. Microarchaeology provides the necessary tools to investigate the preservation, provenance and integrity of sedaDNA.
