Location: HS 120, Kollegienhaus, Petersplatz 1, 4051 Basel
Organizer:
Sarah Siegenthaler (Fachbereich Klassische Archäologie) und Ana Maspoli (Vindonissa-Professur)
While intersectional approaches are well established in the social sciences, their application to ancient and pre-modern contexts remains mostly unexplored. Questions of identity and the marginalisation of specific groups are gaining increasing importance in ancient and pre-modern studies as well. The conference aims to bring together scholars who apply concepts of intersectionality to ancient and pre-modern contexts or wish to explore its potential within these often fragmentary and elite-focused sources.
Registration: If you plan to have lunch at the conference, please contact gwenda.bolliger@clutterunibas.ch until 7.6.2026 (otherwise the Caterer will not be able to provide enough food). Otherwise, spontaneous guests are very welcome: The conference is open to the public.
